Introduction
to
restore the name of King James Version

When the decision was made to accomplish the task of editing the King James version, the fact that it was not a single work was taken into account.  The main sources were used for the edition of this version were: The Holy Name Bible, by Scripture Research Association, The Scriptures, by the Institute for Scripture Research, exegesis, by Herb Jahn and New Hebrew-English Concordance, by George V. Wigram.

One of the original works to restore the separate names for the scriptures was “The Holy Name Bible” by the Scripture Research Association.  Since the Holy Name Bible is also based in the King James, it was decided to use a part of his preface, introduction.

In the text of the Restored Name King James Version, the name of the Father in Heaven   , was written “YHWH”, which is a transliteration of the Hebrew letters. The name of Messiah Yahushua, is a transliteration of his name:

It is our hope that the restoration of the name of the Almighty Creator and His Son, will bless the reader to live a life of reverence    It is the love of   (Yahushua) the Messiah, that this is being presented.

Preface of the Holy Name Bible

The Holy Name Bible was one of the first translations to restore the name of the Father and His Son.  This preface contains a wealth of valuable information.  We present the following in prayer for your edification and spiritual growth:

If you were planning a trip through a strange country, knowingly choose an inaccurate map that shows inexistentencia of roads and bridges? Of course not.  You have the most accurate map available.

The Holy Name version provides a more nearly accurate map of the Kingdom of Heaven and the roads and paths leading to and through it, and most clearly marks the pitfalls and dangers that await the traveler than any other version out now.

To the extent that a person’s beliefs and conduct are based on doctrinal misinformation supported by mistranslation, it follows a distorted map of spiritual territory.

The Holy Name Version is an improvement over other versions – a better map – simply because it makes use of data that is known for a long time, but have generally been confined to footnotes, commentaries, encyclopedias and technical publications .

Efforts to produce a ‘translation’ of the Holy Scriptures more understandable have resulted in a legion of versions by many learned men with even more planned for the immediate future, including a plan for a Catholic-Protestant Bible.

The question can be asked: Why are so many translations?  The answer is simply that men are still ‘translating’ the Bible, because none of its versions can satisfy the hunger for spiritual nourishment that YHWH put in the hearts of His people.

So far they have failed to existing translations bring the true message of the Scriptures, for the following reasons:

(1) The MASORITES.  The Jewish scholars of the Great Synagogue in closing the canon of the Old Testament text, which is known as the Masoretic Text, made changes and modifications of many passages in accordance with their traditional teachings.  Thus, they established a doctrine fixed for the Jewish dispersion.

These same scholars, in their attempt to safeguard the unity of divine worship in Jerusalem, moved the passage in Isaiah 19:18 to read, “In that day shall five cities in Egypt, speaking the language of Canaan and swearing by YHWH of hosts, and one shall be called the city of the sun. ”  The King James translators translate this last sentence, “the city from destruction,” but the original, “the city of righteousness.”

The Masorites, in safeguarding the Tetragrammaton (the four letter Holy Name of the Most High), replaced in more than 130 places in the Hebrew text, the name of the Canaanite deity, Adonay, and in some places, Elohim, wherever anthropomorphism (giving to physical attributes of man to YHWH) was implied.  Wherever they left the Tetragrammaton intact, they placed diacritical marks beneath it to indicate the pronunciation  of the word being spoken,  Adonay, not the written word,  YHWH, that the Jews considered too sacred to be spoken aloud.

The chapters of the prophetic books were so close together, regardless of their historical or prophetic sequence, the reader is at a loss to know what comes first.  An extreme illustration of this is the book of the prophet Daniel, who launches the student into a mess setting the date that Daniel and his companion did the apocalyptic book of Revelation difficult to understand.

Moreover, in their effort to distract people from his apostolic New Testament, the Masorites altered many texts in opposition to the messianic teachings.

(2) Christian theologians.  Christian theologians translated the Scriptures from a non-Israeli to approach both the Old and New Testaments, losing sight of what the Great Apostle said in the ninth chapter of Romans, verses 1 to 11 and 22 to 29 , that the Scriptures were written to Israel, and to them the oracles of YHWH were committed.  Israel, in turn, was to convey the message to other nations that they too can get the same promises through faith (Genesis 9:27, Isaiah 56:6-7, and Ephesians 3:5-6).

Promises made to Israel definite, and non-Israelites through Israel, were made to appear non-religious purpose on the part of teachers through spiritualization, so that the believer is left with no hope of receiving the administrative remedy as clearly outlined in the Holy Scriptures.

(3) Hebrew translation.  Some have tried to “translate” the Bible in what they call a  literal translation,  but the Hebrew can not be literally translated into a classical language.  Hebrew is an idiomatic language, and a Hebrew word can have 3 – 10 different meanings depending on context.  sometimes have opposite meanings.  In the  thoughts of the  Bible  whole, not words, must be translated.

(4) SET APART OF NAMES.  Another common mistake of most translators is their elimination of heaven’s revealed Name of the Most High,   (YHWH),  and the name of His Son   (Yahushua) the Messiah, and substituting the names of the deities locations of the countries in which they lived (Psalm 96:5), expressly transgressed the commandments of   (Yahweh) as given in Exodus 20:7 and 23:13.

To   (YHWH), they replaced it with  Baal,  the Babylonian deity, and  Adonay,  the Canaanite god of the Phoenicians, both corresponding to the  Lord  in word i nglês.

The term feature of the  Most High, Elohim,  was replaced by the Assyrian deity  Gawd,  or  God in English, and is repudiated by   in Isaiah 65:11 which reads: “But ye are they that forsake   , that forget my holy mountain, and prepare a table to God, and provide a drink that offers Meni. ” No wonder the people of Scotland and some parts of northern England celebrated their  Hogmanay,  which in Hebrew means the feast of the god  Meni,  on New Year’s Eve with a drink of scholarships for good luck!

Isaiah truly expresses what   (YHWH) think of Christian worship …

Isaiah 65:11 – But ye are those who left   , that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and to provide the drink to that number.

The replacement name   (YHWH) and   (Yahushua) the names of pagan deities of the nations has brought immeasurable harm.  Such names as Lord, God, Jesus and Christ in no way represent the meaning of the name revealed by the Almighty to Moses and the Hebrew leaders old.  Using these names, people unknowingly exchanged the worship of    the Mighty One of Israel to the pagan deities (Hosea 2:8).

The name of the Creator,   or abbreviated form   (Yah) is the unique name by which He is known in all the Scriptures.

“To know that thou, whose name is   , You are the Most High over all the earth. ” Psalm 83:18

As   have many titles as he is characterized as   nissi,   rapha,   ra-ah,   Tsidkenu,   shalom,   hosts, and   yireh, the name is in each case   , along with a distinctive feature.  The Scriptures are specific and leave no doubts about the importance of His Name and our responsibilities concerning him.

“I am   , What’s my name, and will not give My glory to another  (name)  neither my praise to graven images.  “Isaiah 42:8

“Oh   , Thy Name abideth for ages, Oh   Your memorial is to generation after generation.  “Psalm 135:13

“If  it ULHÍM  follow Him, if Baal  (the Lord),  then follow him  “1 Kings 18:21  (Hebrew: Baal = Lord).

“How long should the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies are prophets of the deceit of their own heart, who think to make my people forget my name? -. As their fathers forgot my name for Baal ”  Jeremiah 23:26-27

“I’ll take the names of the Baals  (Lords)  out of your mouth and they will never be remembered for his name. ”  Hosea 2:17  (Baal is the plural of Baal = Lords)

“I will declare thy name unto my brethren in the congregation I will sing praises unto thee.” Hebrews 2:12  and  Psalm 23:22

“And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call upon the name   will be saved.  “Acts 2:21  and  Joel 2:32

“And they that know thy name will trust in you.”  Psalm 09:10

“Thus said   , the same manufacturer,   who formed it,   is the Name, Call to me and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not “Jeremiah 33:3.

“I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world.”  John 17:6

“And I have declared to them Your name and declare it.”  John 17:26

“Hallowed be Thy Name.”  Matthew 6:9

The set aside the name of Messiah,   (Yahushua) is the name that was known to his disciples, that He has several titles, such as Rabbi, Son of Man, Savior, Messiah and King of Kings.

“What is your name and what is the name of His Son, if thou canst tell?”  Proverbs 30:4

The name of the Messiah,   (Yahushua), literally means ”   is salvation. “

“I am come in my Father’s name and ye receive me not …”  John 5:43

“Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name   .  “John 12:13

“And whatever you ask in My name, I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name I will. ”  John 14:13-14

“… For there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

“And I looked, and behold, a Lamb stood on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.” Revelation 14:01  revised

The combined result of the four reasons mentioned earlier brought to the New Testament many pagan elements of varying degrees, so that the original teachings on the prophetic and apostolic Scriptures have reverted to the apostate Baalism Jezebel (Revelation 2:20).  Not Small wonder, then the Scriptures call this Babylon system.

Misleading ideas and beliefs were implemented during the process of taking the ideas and ideals Hebrew in the context of a pagan Greek and Roman world.

Many of the errors of literal translation, which entered the New Testament, after the first century were kept alive and intact because of the belief by many that the great scholars of the New Testament documents were written in or inspired by the best in the Greek language.  This state of mind made it seem a sacrilege to doubt the authenticity of the Greek text, although parts of it seemed unintelligible.  In recent years, however, much light has been shed on the subject hitherto taboo.  The eminent Dr. Charles Cutler Torrey, professor of Semitic languages at Yale University, states in  Our Translated Gospels,

“At the annual meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature and Exegesis in New York in December 1934, I challenged my New Testament colleagues to designate even  one  passage of any of the four Gospels, giving clear evidence of a date after 50 AD , or from outside of Palestine. The challenge was not met, nor will be, because there is no such passage. “

Dr. Torrey then goes on to cite hundreds of examples of poor Greek translation of Aramaic, the Christian community has rather indiscriminately accepted as gospel.

The replacement process continuing in various lands and languages, so that much of the original meaning of the New Testament has been obscured.  Consider the distortion involved in changing the names of the prophets, the Messiah, and the Creator.  Hoshea became “Hosea” , Elisha became “Elisha”, Isaiah became “Isaiah” Miriam became “Maria”   became “Jesus” and   became “Lord,” “God”, “Gott”, “Dios” “Manitou” or what happened to the name of the local idol.

Now you might wonder why these distortions are so vitally important to us.  They are extremely important because they introduce seeming contradictions which in turn raise conscious or subconscious doubts in the minds of sincere individuals: The pagan elements found in Christianity today has caused falsely appear similar to other religions and thus cast stumbling blocks before those who recognize this for what it is paganism.  Correcting known distortions and purging the pseudo-Christian beliefs, which resulted, doctrinal integrity and consistency can be restored, thus making possible sincerity that the brothers demonstrated the first century, but that is so sadly lacking among so-called Christians today.

Lack of sincerity in faith and conduct is taken for granted by our society.  Ours is an era of “lip service”, notorious for the gap between stated ideals and sordid performance.  Its symptoms are found in all walks of life, interpersonal relationships with international diplomacy.  socially-minded writers, including clergy, frequently deplore this  condition,  but seem unable to recognize that it is a symptom of the  underlying conceptual malaise:  the theological neurosis of modern Christianity so trenchantly described in Revelation …

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I thou wert cold or hot Just because you are lukewarm, neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth, because thou sayest, I am.rich and increased with goods, and have need of nothing, and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and blind and naked. ” Revelation 3:15-17

This disease is deplored by our contemporaries as “secularism,” disease “spirit”, and “the death of the heart,” but whatever it is labeled, the condition is caused by the inability to integrate what professing Christians  do  with they  profess to believe.  That’s an unconscious manifestation out of a mass resolving internal conflicts and a kind of unconscious rebellion against further self-deception and confusion of values.

Since church hierarchies so unanimously complain about the symptoms of the disease, because they have long ago the essential steps to remove its cause?  Why are they in fact display such astonishing ingenuity to avoid recognition of his own part in the ideological confusion?  Perhaps the answer can be found in the well-known phenomenon of neurosis blinds where your teacher is your own existence and resists any effort to effect a cure.  This explanation seems to be corroborated by the verses quoted above, and by verse 18, which advises the application of “drops.”  Is not this amazing that recalls the condition described in Isaiah 6:9-10:

“… To not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and change and be healed”?

What, then, the twentieth century believers can do to become more open-eyed and sincere in his belief – genuine doers of the Word?  How can they achieve a deep and abiding faith comparable to the brothers of the first century?  A pre- requirement is a degree of doctrinal coherence comparable to that of the first century, the other is the recognition of unsubstantiated scientific dogma as such.

The popular theories  a priori  about the origin and antiquity of man and the universe are examples of such generally accepted assumptions about which there remain very large gaps in scientific knowledge.  Our immediate goal concerns the first of these essential elements: the elimination of inconsistency supported by doctrinal common versions.

The Holy Name Bible is a comprehensive effort to bring to the twentieth century believers that integrity of the concept that was present in the original Hebrew and Aramaic – to make it possible in the twentieth century, the integration of the entire heart of the doctrine, belief and behavior characteristic of the congregation for   since its inception in the wilderness (1 Corinthians 10:1-4) through the first phase of the apostolic century.  The congregation of the Old Testament can not be separated from the New, except that the first was excited about the faith to offer    The victorious congregation is one that adheres to all the eternal truths  , he sings the song of Moses  and  the Lamb  (Revelation 15:3).

Method

Why do we have kept both the text of the King James?  Why can not we have chosen to use the language “modern” at all?  reverent style of King James language makes it appropriate for their separate purposes.  Our main concern is to convey the original meaning of the faithfully as possible. Therefore, the changes were made in the King James version only when necessary to clarify meaning.  This policy has additional features, too.  The popularity of the King James Version with the readers of the scriptures is generally recognized.  Holy Name Version is intended for use by many of these readers writing.  Comparisons between the two texts provide a convenient method to identify the corrections that were made in version Holy Name.  In addition, many of the verses we have memorized, or with whom we have long been family, are especially precious to us and we do not, except for excellent reasons, alter them.

The cases in which the corrections were made can be generally classified into the following categories:

1.  Where it seemed that the archaic language would obscure the meaning for the average reader, modern equivalents have been employed.

2.  Where literal translation of idioms from Hebrew into English, or, Aramaic idioms into Greek and then into English resulted in loss of original meaning.

3.  In some cases, when the replacement of  any  word in English would be misleading, the original Aramaic or Hebrew has been restored.  In other words, the words are left untranslated in no satisfactory English equivalent exists.

4.  Where there had been an increase, generally recognized by scholars as  spurious, aggregate material has been omitted.

5.  Where the new testament text quotes directly from the Old Testament, the quotation marks and citations have usually been employed.

6.  Where Hellenized proper names have been held throughout the King James New Testament, most of the original forms were restored.

7.  Special attention has been given to the restoration of names to the set.  His deep meaning has been generally ignored by Christian students.

The extensive research and careful analysis of further source material that was needed in preparation for the Holy Name version, because of our limited resources, required about twenty years.  Our gratitude must be expressed, not only for members of the Association, which during this period contributed to the work of various research, office work, typing and proof reading, but also to friends across the country that gave encouragement in various ways to the task, making available books and documents, discussions and criticisms that have been both stimulating and fruitful.

Special thanks is made of aid received from the works of Burney, Cureton, Gibson, Gwynn Lewis, Schonfield and Torrey and oracles ascribed to Matthew by Papias of Hierapolis.  Thanks must go to the Zion Research Library in Brookline, Massachusetts, to allow the use of many valuable books and documents, and different publishers for permission to quote from their publications.

We believe in the principle that dogmatic rejection of biblical illumination leads to spiritual barrenness and rigidity, while its acceptance, after proper investigation, brings continued spiritual growth.  With this thought in mind, a spirit of prayer and hope to present this Bible Holy Name.
